Aim for the stars, even if you don’t hit the stars at least you will hit the moon!
This is a
big one! It is a serious and difficult thing to aim for. But if you are doing
something, do it at best possible as it can be done. This goes a long way in
everything you do: if you are a designer, aim to be the best, if you are a
teacher, aim for the best, if you are a parent, become the very best.
The issue
is that if you aren't then what are you aiming for? If you set out to do
anything whatsoever and you aren't aiming for the best then it is not really
worth it. We are on this planet not really in competition with no one but to
challenge our self to become the best at what we do!
I believe life
gets exciting when we set standards; we tend to get more engaged and life becomes
more challenging, fulfilled and interesting…
Once you aim
for the best, you become the master: you assume the position of the judge, the
panel of experts! And guess what? Once you set those standards it will be easy
to live up to it. No one can say whether you have failed or succeeded, no one
else can set criteria for what you are about to embark on.
I guess the
situation looks like you are deceiving yourself? But if you can judge whether
you have succeeded then obviously you can simply determine where you are going
to. When you are alone and you want to be very sincere and true to yourself,
you must search yourself thoroughly and soberly and determine where you are at
this point and where you need to aim at.
I must emphasize this: please you must very sincere about this because if you aren't sincere you can never really figure this out.
One of the
most wonderful things about setting your own standards is that no one else can
judge; others can’t figure out what is good or right or wrong for us because it
is not really in their position to figure things for you and it is not really
their business.
All you have
to do continually is to consciously think about what you are doing and then aim
for the best. The secret is to be aware of what you are doing and have some
sort of standard where only you covertly monitor your performance.
Don’t worry,
at first it may seem you can’t attain it, but then you can’t attain the height
you want without aiming for it. Remember you are not aiming for just the second
best, but the best. And guess what even though you didn't achieve it but at
least you aimed for something high.
